Özkan CANAY

About

        Özkan Canay, born in Sakarya in 1977, completed his primary and secondary education in Sakarya. He graduated from Ankara University's Computer Programming Department in 1996 and Sakarya University's Department of Industrial Engineering in 2002. He completed his master's degree in 2005 at the Department of Industrial Engineering at Sakarya University and his doctoral studies in 2024 at the Computer and Information Engineering Department of the SAÜ Institute of Science. Canay started working as a programmer at the Sakarya University Information Processing Department in 1996 and became a Lecturer in 2002. He has taught various computing courses at Sakarya Vocational School and Adapazarı Vocational School. His areas of expertise are data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

        Canay, who held various positions at Sakarya University's Information Processing Department such as University Web Manager, System Administration, Head of Internet Software Development Group, and Information Processing Branch Management, has worked as a developer and project manager in more than 50 software development projects. He led the establishment of Sakarya University's Computer Research and Application Center in 2005; serving as an assistant manager for six years and as a manager for two years in this unit. During this time, he was involved in ISO 9000 Quality Management System, Distance Education, Information Policies, and software collaboration efforts with universities. Canay, who taught as a lecturer at SAÜ Adapazarı Vocational School offering distance education between 2002 and 2018, transitioned to SUBÜ Sakarya Vocational School with the establishment of Sakarya Applied Sciences University in 2018, where he continues to teach computing courses.
